Ginkgo Motif

The Ginkgo tree, introduced to this country from China was a novelty for landscaping
and design at the turn-of-the-century. In autumn, the leaves turn a mustard yellow.

Ginkgo 5-leaf Pillow

This design was origianlly offered by Gustav Stickley's Craftsman Workshops. The leaves are hand stencilled in Leaf Green and hand embroidery in Golden Brown outlines them and forms the stems. The "buds" are satin stitched in a soft orange.

The kit includes the pillow front with the leaves hand stencilled and the design marked, fabric for the back, embroidery thread, a needle, and instructions for embroidering and completing. Down and feather liner separate.

Ginkgo 4-leaf Pillow

Of this design, Gustav Stickley's catalog of Fabrics and Needlework from Craftsman Workshops, circa 1912 said, "Adapted to the square form of the pillow the Ginkgo design is one of the best we have for appliqué."
